Advertising Campaign

Movie Advertising Campaign Design Brief
Title: The Last Unicorn
Category: E-Commerce/ Web Design / Print & Digital

Target Audience:
Fantasy film enthusiasts, nostalgic Gen X and Millennial viewers, and young adults drawn to mythical storytelling and atmospheric world-building.

Background:
The Last Unicorn is a cult classic fantasy film based on Peter S. Beagle’s novel. The film combines surreal animation, literary depth, and a melancholic fairy-tale aesthetic. The goal of the campaign is to generate interest in a theatrical re-release and merchandise tie-in.

Design Problem:
Create a unified, responsive design system that can extend across web, social media, ticketing, and promotional print materials. The challenge is to modernize the film’s visual identity while maintaining its original magical, ethereal tone.

Mockups

Design Solution: I began by researching vintage fantasy film posters, 1980s animation styling, and theatrical web marketing. I then created a cohesive visual system across print and digital formats using a consistent type palette, a night-sky-inspired color scheme, and high-contrast photography. Layouts were optimized for clarity across screen sizes, and assets were adapted for ticket and billboard formats.

Software Used:

Adobe Photoshop

Process

Design Process:
The solution includes a theatrical movie poster, promotional website (desktop and mobile), a movie ticket design, and an extended billboard layout. The campaign balances classic fantasy styling with modern web usability. It captures the spirit of the film through moody lighting, serif typography, and character-focused visuals that resonate with long-time fans and new audiences.
